Kigoda Responsible Investment Ranking 2017

The Kigoda Responsible Investment Ranking 2017 uses the Code for Responsible Investing in South Africa’s five principles and its practice recommendations to independently assess whether ten of South Africa’s largest asset managers have the policy frameworks and governance structures in place to implement sustainable and responsible investment. It also assesses whether they adequately disclose information on their responsible investment performance. These ten managers account for around two-thirds of total assets under management in South Africa by asset managers, including multi-managers. The Kigoda Responsible Investment Ranking 2017 is based on publicly disclosed information.

Kigoda Gender Diversity Index 2018

The Kigoda Gender Diversity Index assesses board level diversity at South Africa’s large- and mid-cap JSE-listed companies. In 2018, the Index showed 29 of the 104 companies (28% of the total) have 30% or more women on their boards. However, only three companies have women CEOs, and only 10 have women CFOs. Ten companies are also chaired by women or have women lead independent directors. Of the 1194 board positions at these 104 companies, only 23% are filled by women.
