Kigoda Consulting was established in 2012. Managed by Mike Davies, Kigoda Consulting draws from its pool of associate consultants on a project-by-project basis.
The majority of Kigoda’s work is focused on sub-Saharan Africa, but we also work and collaborate on projects across other emerging and frontier markets. Kigoda’s clients include international investors, NGOs, activist asset managers, philanthropic foundations, renewable energy companies and global expert networks.
A kigoda is a Swahili word for a traditional three-legged stool, which is also a common representation of sustainability as it reflects the need to maintain the balance between people, the planet and profit.
Mike is an experienced political risk analyst and responsible investment consultant with specialist knowledge of South Africa, and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. He works across a broad range of sectors, including mining, energy, agriculture, telecoms and FMCG.
Prior to establishing Kigoda Consulting, Mike worked for three of the top political and global risk consultancies in the United Kingdom. He has briefed numerous FTSE100 and S&P500 firms and financial sector clients, including asset managers and international financial institutions, on the risks and opportunities of investing sustainably and responsibly in sub-Saharan Africa.
Mike is regularly quoted in the media on developments in South Africa and contributes opinion pieces on issues affecting responsible investment in South Africa.
