There has been an international backlash against plastic over the past two years. This has also been seen in South Africa, where a growing number of restaurants have removed plastic straws or replaced them with alternatives, a ban on microbeads has been considered and there have been renewed calls for a ban on single-use plastic bags.
Kigoda has recently published a briefing that considers the South African plastic value chain, with a focus on JSE listed companies, and identifies the potential investor trends facing the sector. It also assesses which companies are likely to be the possible winners and losers as the “war against plastic” escalates.
